Mediating Crusader DNA in Lebanon after 9/11

In this talk at Umeå University’s HUMLab in 2013, I discus my ethnographic research studying the Genographic Project’s genetic ancestry studies in Lebanon, which traced the “Crusader gene” in local populations. My research asked how the mediation of genetic ancestry results has ethical implications for contemporary populations engaged in identity politics after 9/11 and in sectarian societies.
